Terms of service

Last updated: October 31, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Higher Self — the app at app.higherself.quest and this website. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Higher Self.

Who we are

Higher Self is run by [LLC name], a New Hampshire limited liability company ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@higherself.quest.

Payments: Paddle is the merchant of record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you subscribe, you also accept Paddle's buyer terms, which Paddle shows at checkout.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • One account is for one person. Give a real email address — we send your confirmation and password resets there.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us at support@higherself.quest if you think someone else is using it.

Households and your data

  • Higher Self is organised in households. Everything added to a household — tasks, chores, goals, recipes, meal plans, pantry, shopping lists — is shared with everyone in it.
  • What you add is yours and your household's. We don't claim ownership of it. You give us permission to store, copy and show it only so we can run Higher Self for you.
  • Each household has one owner. The owner names it, sets its time zone, invites and removes people, and chooses its plan. The owner can hand the household to someone else in it.
  • Anyone in a household can download its data from Settings.

Plans and payment

  • The free plan has the limits shown on the pricing page. A paid household has higher limits and extra features, also shown there.
  • The paid plan is a subscription for one household, billed monthly or yearly in advance through Paddle. It renews automatically until it's cancelled. The person who paid manages it (card, cancellation) from Settings.
  • Cancelling stops the next renewal; the household keeps the paid plan until the end of the period already paid for. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
  • If we change prices, we'll tell paying households by email at least 30 days before the change applies to their next renewal.

When a subscription ends

  • The household goes back to the free plan. Nothing is deleted: you can't add more of anything that's over the free limits until it's back under them.
  • If it has more people than the free plan allows, the owner has 30 days to choose who stays; after that, the people who joined most recently lose access.
  • One person can own one free household. If the owner already has another, the household becomes read-only and is deleted 30 days later, unless the owner subscribes again or keeps it instead of the other one. Its data can be downloaded until then. Everyone in it is emailed.

Acceptable use

Don't use Higher Self to:

  • break the law, or store or share anything you don't have the right to;
  • harass, threaten or harm anyone;
  • get into accounts or households that aren't yours, or test, probe or overload our systems;
  • send spam or bulk invitations, or create accounts automatically;
  • copy, resell or rebuild Higher Self as a service of your own.

Ending your account

  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings. A household you own with other people passes to the longest-standing member; a household you're alone in is deleted with everything in it. You'll be offered a download first. If you pay for a household, cancel the subscription first.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, with notice by email unless the problem is serious or urgent. If we ever close Higher Self altogether, we'll give at least 30 days' notice so you can download your data, and refund any paid time that's left.

The service

  • We work to keep Higher Self running, safe and backed up, but it's provided "as is": we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Don't rely on it as the only copy of anything important.
  • We improve Higher Self over time and may change or remove features. If a change takes away something a paid plan includes, we'll tell paying households first.
  • To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law says can't be limited.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, United States. If you live in a country whose consumer laws give you more protection, those still apply.
